Prevention and Education
The Alliance has trained educators available to provide HIV/AIDS education in Northwest Pennsylvania. The educators can provide a diverse range of programs that can be tailored to meet the needs of the community, school, social services, and/or medical audiences. CME, PCB, LSW and Continuing Education accreditation is available. Trainings are also arranged with the University of Pittsburgh, AIDS Education and Training Center. The Alliance also offers the following prevention and education services:
Personal Perspective Speakers Bureau: The Alliance has people living with HIV/AIDS who are specially trained to provide information and perspective on living with the disease. Arrangements can be made for a personal perspective speaker by contacting the Coordinator of Prevention Education Services.
Video and Print Library: A collection of educational and informational videotapes is available for schools, universities and community groups. The videotapes cover a wide range of issues focusing on HIV/AIDS, and are available upon request. Brochures and pamphlets covering several topics are also available. HIV/AIDS Educator newsletter: The Alliance publishes a bi-annual newsletter that reaches 2,000 different agencies. It serves to provide current educational, medical, and statistical updates on HIV/AIDS, and to publish scheduled trainings and conferences.
